Film Release: 6th February 2015

The Wachowski's attempt to do Star Wars with the gulf between story and visuals of Speed Racer and pomposity of The Matrix sequels was not a great film, at best something to watch halfway through when you're really drunk. That much was patently obvious from the trailers, so it's fair to say having them online for so long really only hurt the already limping project - unlike Star Wars, DC or Marvel movies, Jupiter Ascending wasn't a heavily anticipated project that needed such a long-lead release. So it's hardly surprising that this only happened by accident.

The first trailer hit in late 2013, when the film was scheduled for a July 2014 release, but only a month before release it was pushed back to February 2015. The stated reason was to give time to finish off the copious effects shots, although the fact it was shifted to February, the deadest of all the dead months, suggests Warner Bros. were getting pretty nervous and wanted to put it in another calendar year for finance balancing reasons (at this point projected hit Batman V Superman was lined up for release in 2015, so it was presumed it could offset this dud).
