6 Ways James Bond Could Change For The Modern World

1. Ditch The Womanizing And Don't Bring It Back

This might seem like a severe criticism at first, because the franchise has indeed come a long way from the posterior-slapping, magnetically garment-unzipping traits of the 60s and 70s. Particularly in the Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig sagas, many of the female co-characters have been fiercely strong and substantial additions to the Bond protagonist roster.

Daniel Craig's run especially, had a decent attitude towards female characters, right up until that cringe-worthy scene with Monica Bellucci in Spectre. It suggested that the one night stand convention was an unmissable trait which demanded resurgence.

It's a given that Bond is passionate about women, but the disposable nature of these encounters should really be laid to rest. The age-old question of what happens to Bond's girls once the credits roll now has some narrative validity to it. Does he break off these relationships, or do his temporary girlfriends tire of his antics? Either way, it doesn't paint the character in a good light.

Writers could find several ways to avoid this characteristic if they used their imagination. Giving Bond an evolved interaction with female co-characters would be a triumph for the franchise and ultimately cause it to lose none of its finesse. Bond movies are awesome for so many other reasons and always have been.
