6 Ways To Save The James Bond Franchise After Spectre Disappointed

3. ...And Hello To A Truly Diverse 007

Diversity for the sake of diversity is beyond frustrating. While movies and TV shows should absolutely strive to reflect the world we live in today, talk of recasting certain roles with actors of a different race sometimes feels like little more than a publicity stunt by studios to generate some positive publicity. However, in the case of James Bond, bringing a non-white 007 to the big screen definitely feels like it's pretty long overdue. Whether that's fan-favourite choice Idris Elba or someone a little younger, there are lots of great possibilities. Would it be controversial? Well, considering the fact that fans nearly started rioting over a blonde Bond, there's a very good chance it wouldn't initially go down that well, but there's absolutely nothing to say that Bond has to be white. For that matter, does he even really need to be a...he? Is the world ready for Jane Bond? Despite what Skyfall did with Moneypenny, she spent most of Spectre behind a desk, while the movie's other female leads were either there for Bond to have sex with or rescue. Whether it's "Jane" Bond (a role many would love to see Rosamund Pike in) or just a female lead who gets as much screentime as James, the next movie needs to move on from the old fashioned trappings of the past and feel like a truly modern effort.
