7 Abandoned Movie Crossovers (And Why They Fell Apart)

6. Die Hard/24

Freddy Vs Jason Vs Ash
20th Century Fox

The Crossover: Rumblings of a 24 movie adaptation date back as far as 2006, when the creators of the series were tasked with bringing it to the big screen. Since then, the project has been on-and-off every couple of years, with one of the most curious possibilities revolving around the idea of turning it into a Die Hard crossover film.

News of this project broke in 2010, three years after Die Hard 4.0 launched. Apparently, the plan was for Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer and Bruce Willis' John McClane to join forces for an action-adventure - titled Die Hard 24/7 - in the vein of both the show, and the famous movie series. While Fox were seriously considering moving forward with this plan, the project didn't get very far, and in the end, Die Hard and 24 continued on their own instead - for better or worse.

Why It Fell Apart: It's rumoured that Sutherland himself nipped this idea in the bud, with the actor believed to be more focused on launching a standalone 24 movie franchise. To this day, a single 24 movie has yet to materialise, and Sutherland's last appearance as Bauer was in 2014's 24: Live Another Day.

So, a movie doesn't look very likely.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
