7 Actors Whose Film Careers Went Downhill After Winning An Oscar

5. Tim Robbins

Oscar Win: Best Supporting Actor, Mystic River, 2004 It's unclear what has happened to Tim Robbins's career after he picked up his golden statue over ten years ago. For about 15 years, Robbins was a reliable leading man, appearing in great films like Bull Durham, Jacob's Ladder, The Player, and Shawshank Redemption. When he won the Oscar for Mystic River, it seemed Tim Robbins had solidified himself as one of the most respected actors in Hollywood. Ten years later, the only film he's starred in that's received any attention is 2005's War of the Worlds. Even then, there was not much buzz surrounding his performance. As for Zathura, City of Ember, Green Lantern, those films are better off being forgotten about. His last memorable on-screen appearance was his cameo in Anchorman. That was in 2004. What happened to the guy who used to work with Robert Altman and The Coen Brothers? Moreover, in the '90s, Tim Robbins also built up a promising career as a filmmaker. He wrote and directed three movies throughout the decade that were well-received by critics. He even picked up an Oscar nomination for directing with his second film, Dead Man Walking. Since 2000, however, his only notable directing credit is a couple episodes of the HBO show Treme. Will we ever get to see another interesting Tim Robbins movie?
