7 Awesome James Bond Fan Theories That Actually Improve The Films

4. Sean Connery Is Daniel Craig's Father

Another theory from Skyfall, and one which doesn't require all that much speculation. In the 2012 film, you're given a brief look at the gravestones of Bond's parents. His father's headstone reveals his name to be Andrew Bond, but it doesn't specify a middle name. The theory goes that his full name was Andrew James Bond, and that he was one of MI6's finest agents until his retirement following the You Only Live Twice mission. With plenty of bad guys left to deal with and more missions to be tackled, MI6 recruited more agents and assigned them the codename "James Bond" in honour of their best man. Bond then spends the rest of his life in the Skyfall mansion where he has a son, who he also names James. The younger Bond is raised with his father's values and traits, and is immediately recruited by M when his father dies (remember, "orphans always make the best recruits."). This Bond is first seen in Casino Royale, played, of course, by Daniel Craig. This theory is supposedly backed up by the inclusion of the exact same Aston Martin DB5 used by Connery in Goldfinger - it has the same registration, same gadgets, same everything, whereas all other DB5's seen in previous films featured none of these. Although perhaps just included as a tribute to the earlier Bond films, it's entirely plausible that Craig's Bond inherited the car from Bond Sr. after his death. While not watertight, this is one of those crazy fan theories that - gasp - actually kind of makes sense.
