7 Best Action Movie Beatdowns Of 2013

2. Patriot Vs Traitor - Olympus Has Fallen

Olympus Has Fallen was a sleeper hit as well as a surprisingly good action movie from director Antoine Fuqua. The film followed a shamed Secret Service agent named Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) who breaks into the White House after terrorists have taken it hostage. He tortures some, kills some, beats some, but the best beatdown he gave was to a traitor he thought to be a friend played by Dylan McDermott. In a nice homage to Die Hard, whether intentional or not, McDermott's former Secret Service agent, who's working with the terrorists, finds Banning and pretends to be a friendly that survived the attack in order to get close to and kill the man. Banning sees through the ruse and the two former protectors of the President go head to head. After just a few moments, it's clear who the more skilled fighter is. Banning gets the upper edge and gives his former friend a beatdown he'll be feeling into the next life. It's a great scene because of the tension and was a scene that proved Gerard Butler still had it as an action hero after all these years.
