Days of Future Past was astonishing, but it has rewritten the X-Men universe completely. The events of Origins have been wiped out (yay!), meaning that the truly dreadful incarnation of Deadpool no longer exists. So first off, how did Deadpool get his powers? He is not a mutant, he is given powers through experimentation, so this new timeline will need to be explained. Secondly, will the Deadpool film have wider ramifications on the X-Men universe? Bryan Singers X-Men franchise was dark, nearly realistic and noticeably different from its comic book roots. From the looks of the Deadpool leaked footage this movie will be the complete antithesis of this. The character frequently breaks the fourth wall and is far more comedic than any of the other characters in the X-Mens cinematic outings. So far, the X-Men sense of humour has been through small remarks and well written dialogue, so Deadpool's outlandish style will probably look out of place. Would these differing tones in a shared universe be compatible? Or should they be kept as two separate franchises? Fox will most likely be incorporating the Fantastic Four into the X-Men universe, so it stands to reason that they will try to put Deadpool in this universe as well.
