7 Cancelled Movie Sequels Saved By Comics

3. The Power Of The Dark Crystal

When The Dark Crystal debuted, it was not well-received. While turning a profit, the critical and audience reception was lukewarm at best, hindering any potential for a sequel. During production though, Jim Henson and David Odell would talk about the potential sequels, expanding the universe and generally do with a passion project that hopefully would be a hit.

It wasn't until 25 years later that David Odell and his wife would use their memories and notes from the time to piece together a draft for a sequel. That draft would be ignored for another twelve years before finally becoming a highly-praised comic.

The Power of the Dark Crystal is an amazing comic, with an expansive world set centuries after the original with truly stunning art by Kelly and Nicole Matthews that makes it one of the best saved scripts out there.
