Now it is known that Labryinth was not a big hit. However, for many reasons, this movie has received a lot of love over the years and has seemed to become a favorite of the 80s generation. In what other decade would you have David Bowie and Muppets together? While we know that Jennifer Connelly was still an unknown at the time, it was a Jim Henson movie, so it made some money, didn't it? Yes. It made $12.7 million (worth $26.7 million today), or about half of its budget. This movie has a Facebook page with over 105,000 likes today! Yet it was beaten at the box office by Ice Pirates, Critters, and I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. Full disclosure: those three movies also have Facebook fan pages totaling about 40,000 likes. Yikes! The movie today that made about as much money? Machete, which of course is getting a sequel. Where was the Labryinth sequel? Were you surprised by any of these underperformers? Know of other underwhelming classic 80s movies that we left out? Tell us about it.

I like to be thought of as well rounded in my nerdom. Film, sports, geocaching, podcasting and board games all tickle my fancy. When it comes to movies, I like to look at older films and compare eras.
