7 Up-And-Coming Directors Attached To Huge Hollywood Movies

7. Neil Burger

What Put Him On The Map: 2011's Limitless What He's On Now: 2014's Divergent While Burger has made a couple of pictures (most notably that 2006 magician movie not entitled The Prestige), nothing has garnered the box office success that Limitless has. A slick and rather engrossing little film, Limitless proved a hit and led to Burger landing the Divergent gig. Divergent, for those of you unfamiliar with the world of young-adult fiction, is the latest in a host of adaptations hoping to replicate the success of franchises like the Harry Potter series and the Twilight saga. Based on the best-selling dystopian trilogy by Veronica Roth (not to be confused with the best-selling dystopian trilogy by Suzanne Collins) Divergent has been gaining traction as its March 2014 release approaches. The film has dropped a pretty decent trailer and boasts a rather solid cast including hot up-and-comer Shailene Woodley, Academy Award-winner Kate Winslet, and the always badass Ray Stevenson. And while this isn't a massive movie as far as Hollywood budgets go, it is an anticipated franchise starter and an important film for Summit Entertainment, who saw their most recent, much bigger young-adult franchise hopeful €“ Ender's Game €“ snuffed out by controversy, middling reviews, and lacklustre box office numbers.
