Out of all of the Harry Potter characters, one of the last ones you would expect to do anything bad would be Arthur Weasley. We first meet the muggle-loving wizard in The Chamber of Secrets where he announces himself in some style by asking Harry "What exactly is the function of a rubber duck?". Clearly, there wasn't a bad bone in his body.

But is it possible that Mr Weasley was one of the wizard's placed under the imperious curse when Voldemort first rose to power?

At the time, Weasley would have been one of the young wizard's working in the Ministry of Magic, making him an ideal target for Death Eaters looking to get a foothold in the organization.

The theory also points out how Arthur has a strong hatred for Lucius Malfoy, somebody who falsely claimed to being under the imperious curse after Voldemort fell. And as if that wasn't enough, when Ron mentions the imperious curse in a Defence Against The Dark Arts lesson, Mad Eye Moody says "Your father would know about that one".
