7 Crazy Star Wars Fan Theories People Actually Believed

4. Boba Fett Killed Uncle Owen And Aunt Beru

Even a humiliating end at the start of Return Of The Jedi couldn't temper the love people hold for Boba Fett. An immediate fan-favourite after a four-lined appearance in The Empire Strikes Back, in the years since much effort has been put in to make him even cooler; the Expanded Universe has him escape the Sarlacc, Attack Of The Clones told his backstory and a fan theory sadistically links him even more to the events of the saga.

Succinctly, it suggests that it wasn't Stormtroopers who killed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru and torched their homestead, but Boba on a job for the Empire. Freezing Han is now only the second most dickish act he's committed. There's a strong argument for it.

We know Boba Fett was on Tatooine at the time thanks to the superfluous Jabba the Hutt scene in the special edition of A New Hope and, as evidenced in Empire, Vader sometimes resorts to using bounty hunters. In fact, it's clear the two have worked together before then; could the "no disintegrations" line actually be a reference to Fett's actions against Vader's family?

It's certainly just for fan service, but is one of the more sound arguments we've come across.
