The Marvel Cinematic Universe has reshaped the blockbuster landscape of the 21st century. And, since they tend to make pretty good movies, most people seem to be more or less okay with that. But one notable exception just happens to be one of the greatest living directors, Martin Scorsese.

Frustrated no doubt by the superhero genre dominating box offices and his Oscar-nominated film The Irishman being rejected by all major studios, Scorsese took time in an interview to call out Marvel Studios as the defacto face of everything he considered wrong with modern Hollywood. Despite admitting he'd never actually seen any of the movies, Scorsese made the bold claim that he doesn't even consider them movies and likened them more to amusement park rides than entertaining art.

While Marvel Studios itself remained quiet on the issue, various Marvel directors and actors took pot shots at a film legend who made a name for himself by perfecting the gangster movie now criticizing the superhero genre. Scorsese made these comments in late 2019 and no Marvel films have been released since he did, so it's unclear just what kind of impact this very public feud will have on box office sales.
