7 Disney Characters Who Probably Died After The Credits Rolled
5. Todd Probably Died In The Wild Within Months - The Fox And The Hound
The Fox and the Hound does that wonderful thing that only animated films are able to do, in that it paints a relationship between two animals who are natural enemies in real life. The story concerns a fox, named Tod, and a dog, named Copper, who - after meeting as infants - vow to be "friends forever," only to find themselves bitterly facing off when they're older. Cooper is a hunting dog, you see, which doesn't bode well for Tod. The film ends with the two putting their differences aside and rekindling their respect for one another, however, but still going their separate ways: Tod retreats into the wild with Vixey, his new love interest, whilst Copper continues on as a hunting dog. It's a relatively happy ending, but one that fails to deliver one rather harrowing piece of information: foxes only generally live between 18 months and 2 years in the wild, and at the end of the film Tod is already an adult. He probably only has a few months of "being alive" left in him before death comes knocking at his door. It's incredibly rare for a fox to live past three years in the wild, too, so whilst one can assume that Cooper lived a long and prosperous life, Tod barely had any time left at all.
