7 Great Batman Characters Yet To Appear In A Movie
4. Renee Montoya
Batman stories don't necessarily need Batman to be interesting. Plenty of his supporting characters have been given their own comic book series, and the Gotham TV show largely focused on members of the Gotham Central Police Department. As did Gotham Central, a comic book series dealing with the issues its employees have to deal with once Batman has fled the scene.
One such employee is detective Renee Montoya.
In real life, being a police officer invites hostility from criminals and non-criminals alike. Now take that, add in a woman having to deal with being a Hispanic lesbian in an often corrupt, sometimes racist, sometimes homophobic organisation in comic book's most dangerous city, and there's an opportunity to explore storytelling's most universal themes: conflict.
Who Should Play Her: It's almost as if Stephanie Beatriz was born to play this role, as she already more or less has. In TV's Brooklyn 99, she plays Rosa Diaz, a cop with and tough exterior/vulnerable interior. Montoya was played by Victoria Cartagena in the Gotham TV show, but the possibility of seeing Beatriz wear a GCPD badge is too good an opportunity to miss.
