5. Mischa Barton The Sixth Sense
While Bartons star has faded since the days of The O.C., she has been active in Hollywood for a majority of her life. Obviously Haley Joel Osment is the star of The Sixth Sense, and likely to be stuck with that iconic role hanging over his head the rest of his life, but Bartons minor role is the one that stands out emotionally. Her scenes with Osment are innocent enough, she appears to him as a ghost who promptly vomits in front of him, but she doesnt mean to harm him. Unfortunately Cole acts as a messenger to her father and the audience with the truth behind her death, in a scene that is incredibly heartbreaking and hard to watch. I cry every time I watch it. The movie is filled with young actors, and Bartons character Kyra Collins makes a lasting impression both in her time as a ghost and the brief scene where she is still alive. Knowing that her only reason for dying was because she was a naïve child is a chilling and tragic moment to watch regardless of how many times youve seen the movie and know its twists. Reality sets in, when you realize that horror stories such as the one about Kyra Collins are all too real which makes it even more upsetting.
