Regardless of your thoughts on what J.J. Abrams has done with the Star Trek franchise, you have to admit that he at least made one pretty great decision when it came time to reboot the movie series in 2009. The inclusion of Leonard Nimoy as a time-traveling version of Spock (aka Spock Prime) was a genius move. Played with typically understated emotion, Nimoy sent fanboy hearts all aflutter with his surprisingly substantial role in the Abrams reboot. Though he would also appear in Star Trek Into the Darkness, his portrayal here is the most heartening passing of the torch movie that the series could have imagined. It's not schmaltzy, it's not emotional (because...Spock, you guys), it's just the perfect way for Nimoy to end his career. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ppo5YIYwTM "Live long and prosper, Zachary Quinto." - hopefully an actual quote from Nimoy behind-the-scenes.
