6. President Tom Beck In Deep Impact
Paramount PicturesThe world is about to end... Is there any other voice you would want to listen to other than Morgan Freeman's? As President Beck in the 1998 disaster movie Deep Impact, Morgan Freeman reassured the public that they would survive, despite the imminent threat of a comet striking the planet and potentially killing every living thing. Faced with a situation that would test any President, Beck dealt remarkably well with the crisis. He kept reasonably calm and came up with some form of a solution. Obviously Matthew Santos, the previous entry, could not compete with Morgan Freeman's character since the scenarios are completely incompatible. However, despite this disparity, it is clear that in a potentially earth shattering situation you would feel some semblance of security knowing that the the President is at least capable of making good decisions in the heat of the moment. Then we come to the press conferences. This is where a Presidency is made or destroyed, and in Beck's case it is an absolute certainty that the defining moment of the term would be made in that tense room. Morgan Freeman's voice carries through like nothing on this planet, and his aura of authority means that this is one President who would definitely go down in history as one of the best had he existed in real life.
