7 Harry Potter Characters Who Were ALMOST Sorted Into A Different House
5. Neville Longbottom
Neville Longbottom was a brave and heroic leader in The Deathly Hallows. He was at the forefront of the revolt against the Carrows and he even destroyed one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes with the Sword of Gryffindor.
But he wasn’t very brave when he first arrived at Hogwarts. He had a very nervous disposition and he frequently fell apart whenever he came face to face with the Potions Master – Professor Snape. However, the Sorting Hat clearly possessed a lot of foresight because it was determined to place him in Gryffindor.
Unfortunately, Neville wanted to be in a different house. Aware of Gryffindor’s reputation for bravery and heroism, he believed Hufflepuff was the place for him to be.
This is understandable given Hufflepuff’s reputation for kindness and loyalty, but despite considering Neville’s internal pleas, the Hat ultimately decided to trust its instincts and go with Gryffindor.
