7 Harry Potter Characters Who Were ALMOST Sorted Into A Different House
2. Hermione Granger
Hermione Granger was an intellectual powerhouse. She had a knack for long-term concentration and could recall information easily. And whilst she was also very brave, Ravenclaw was the most obvious house to put her in.
Indeed, in The Order of the Phoenix, Hermione revealed that the Sorting Hat almost placed her in Ravenclaw. No doubt the Hat was able to sense her huge intellect and her quick wits.
Yet upon closer examination, the Hat’s decision was probably the right one. During the finale of The Philosopher’s Stone, Hermione herself claimed that friendship and bravery were more important than books and cleverness. In other words, she admired the values of Gryffindor more than the values of Ravenclaw.
Given how talented she was, Hermione would have excelled regardless of what house she was placed in. But it’s probably a good thing she was sorted into Gryffindor because Harry and Ron would have been doomed without her help.
