7 Harry Potter Characters Who Were ALMOST Sorted Into A Different House

1. Harry Potter

Harry was the ultimate Gryffindor. His bravery stood out from the moment he stepped foot in Hogwarts and he was never afraid to do what was right. He challenged authority, put himself in dangerous situations, and faced up to the Dark Lord on numerous occasions. And whilst he was far from perfect, no other character was more heroic.

However, according to the Sorting Hat, Harry would have been great in Slytherin. He was ambitious and thirsty to prove himself, and such traits are closely aligned with the core values of Slytherin. In fairness to Harry, the Hat’s opinion may have been distorted by the fact a part of Voldemort’s soul lived inside of him – although there’s no way of proving this for certain.

If Harry had been sorted into Slytherin, it would have been interesting to see if the Hat was right in saying he would have been ‘great’ as a member of this infamously villainous house.

Why do you think the Sorting Hat was conflicted about these characters? Leave your thoughts below in the comments thread.
