7 Horribly Disturbing Implications Of Your Favourite Christmas Films

5. Kevin Will Grow Up To Be A Serial Killer - Home Alone 1 & 2

What Happens: The McCallister family leaves their 10-year-old-son behind during Christmas. Kevin finds himself the target of a pair of burglars who want to raid the McCallister household while the family is on holidays. Kevin has other plans though and thwarts the would-be burglars with a series of elaborate booby traps. The Implications: As I touched upon in another post, the elaborate way Kevin constructs deathtraps and the unadulterated joy he takes in punishing the wicked points to him growing up to be a serial killer a la Jigsaw in the Saw series. As anyone who has watched Saws 1 through 6 will tell you, Jigsaw's modus operandi is to trap victim his victims in ironic deathtraps so he can teach them a convoluted life lesson about how to be a good person. Much like Jigsaw, Kevin turns the McCallister home into a death maze to trap the crooks instead of doing the sensible thing and calling the authorities. Once he reaches adulthood, Kevin the vigilante could take his show on the road, punishing the wicked in his own unique way. Now, it can be argued that Kevin simply did what he had to defend himself. Once someone breaks into your home all bets are off. However, the follow up to Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, sends the chilling message that Kevin has developed a penchant for his macabre shenanigans. While using a credit card he stole from his parents to live it up in the Big Apple, Kevin encounters the same burglars from the first film but this time they have their sights set on robbing a toy store. This has nothing to do with Kevin and poses no immediate threat to his life. Does our favourite serial killer in training call the cops on the bandits? No. He lures them away from the store into yet another booby trap-filled death maze. In both films Kevin emerges triumphant, which will only positively reinforce his psychotic behaviour and embolden him to continue on in his twisted mission to punish the wicked.
