Considering the levels of ridiculous that Evil Dead 2 takes us too, it's no surprise that the film throws caution to the wind and gives us a little fan service - especially when that fan service is a famed weapon of mutilation that defined the 80s slasher era. Respect where respect is due, people.

In a film where a man loses his possessed hand only to replace it with a chainsaw then, there is, of course, a tribute paid to the original hand-held weapons master himself, with A Nightmare On Elm Street's iconic bladed glove displayed in its full glory more than once in the background shots of the cabin.

Whilst Freddy Krueger might not be there, the glove was placed in an ongoing bit of banter between directors Sam Raimi and Wes Craven, which began with a The Hills Have Eyes poster in The Evil Dead, then continued on to The Evil Dead playing on TV in A Nightmare On Elm Street, and culminated in A Nightmare On Elm Street being referenced in The Evil Dead 2. The pair basically made each other's movies fictional works in their own filmographies.

If we consider that A Nightmare On Elm Street is presented as a movie in Wes Craven's New Nightmare later in the series, then it isn't so much of a stretch to think that The Evil Dead's characters have access to the film too. In essence, you can argue that Ash's holiday cabin comes complete with its own fanboy props from an in-universe movie. Decor is important, after all.
