7 Horror Movies Connected By Easter Eggs
1. From Dusk Till Dawn And Satanico Pandemonium
Quentin Tarantino's love for cinema is a spectacle to behold, and so is Salma Hayek in From Dusk Till Dawn. The pair together make for a neat little nod to an old Mexican 'nunsploitation' movie named Satanico Pandemonium, in which a nun receives visions from the devil to take down her convent with acts of violence and depravity, leading her sisters into hell for the new dark lord. She's also very naked a lot.
It's a particularly appropriate name, then, for Hayek's character too, the lead stripper of the Titty Twister that's become overrun by vampire activity, as she leads the charge with her other companions in various states of undress against the visitors to her bar. Satanico Pandemonium seems to represent the corrupted nun, carrying a snake in representation of Eve's submission to sin in the Bible, a vision of beauty before transforming into a hideous creature who wants to only feast on blood.
Whilst the easter egg works predominantly metaphorically, that the Titty Twister is a Mexican bar there's argument that the film could be a part of From Dusk Till Dawn's in-universe history, or perhaps Santanico herself is a descendent of the nun that defiled her convent, condemning her to life as a vampire. It'd explain where the mysterious monsters came from, at the very least.
