One of the true strokes of genius with Saw X may just have been how they utilised their trailer and marketing without giving away too many spoilers for the actual movie.

No doubt, if you went to see Saw X in the cinema, you'd have watched at least one trailer where the upcoming feature may have looked okay. But that preview footage seemed to give away almost everything that could possibly happen in the actual movie itself.

Well, Saw X's trailer did quite the opposite. For anyone who saw the "eyeball trap" in the trailers or on the posters, they were appeased with its appearance early on, before discovering that it didn't actually happen at all. Add to that, the trap seems to be the only one designed to maim, rather than kill, upon failure.

For only the second time in Saw history, we see a trap that doesn't exist! Aside from in John Kramer's mind, of course, as Jigsaw fantasises about how he may punish someone caught in two minds about whether to steal a hospital patient's belongings. The first of which being Jill Tuck's dream trap from Saw 3D.

Of course, the trap itself was pretty disappointing and one in which the viewers' non-sucked-out eyes were bigger than their stomachs, but it at least provided the perfect "X" shape on the poster and hyped up the movie without spoiling it in any way - providing another mini "gotcha" moment for unsuspecting viewers.
