7 Incredible Saw X Easter Eggs You May Have Missed
4. Chronology
And with the Lionsgate logo's arrival transporting us back to the mid-2000s, that's exactly where we ended up!
The most obvious Easter egg of the lot for anyone who read about the movie beforehand, the chronology of Saw X does not place it at tenth in the list. Rather, Saw X is at a 1.5 slot in terms of the timeline of the overall franchise. Taking place between Saw and Saw II, the movie is set between 2004 and 2005, but it does so in rather subtle fashion instead of beating us over the head with any dated references.
Of course, the first hint regarding the chronology, aside from the original Lionsgate logo, is that John Kramer is still alive. As in, the actual human being, not his legacy which seems to live on forever.
There are many subtle scene-setters in Saw X, from Amanda's hair length and style, to the Billy doll being in its original wooden form and minus the light-up Terminator-esque eyes acquired in more recent instalments.
While Saw X also features many original stars - let's come back to that later - the chronology also may explain why Dr. Lawrence Gordon was not there as an accomplice. Storyline-wise, he'd likely still be recovering from his foot amputation which occurred in the first Saw.
Even if not, that sounds better than the reason of Cary Elwes not returning after his long-awaited return in Saw 3D was on the promise that it would be the final chapter.
