2. Jared Leto - Chapter 27

leto chapter 47 Jared Leto is at the top of his game right now, recently winning an Academy Award for his role as a transgender woman in The Dallas Buyers Club, but many fans presumed he would have picked up more awards buzz for an earlier performance in Chapter 27. To play Mark David Chapman, the man who killed John Lennon, Leto gained 67 lbs. How did the usually-skinny star perform such a feat? By drinking microwaved pints of ice cream with with soy sauce and olive oil every night. Of course. In theory, that sounds kind of awesome, but Leto would probably disagree, as the sudden weight gain took a huge toll on his body. Not only did the process give him gout, but Leto also had to use a wheelchair while at his heaviest. You would think that such insane dedication would have won Leto a number of awards, but unfortunately, the film sucked. Most critics disliked the film for its sleazy tone and subsequently, Chapter 27 only had a limited run in US theatres. Excuse me now while I go microwave some ice cream...
