7 Insanely Dedicated Acting Performances That Were Totally Ignored
3. Chloƫ Sevigny - The Brown Bunny
Ok, call it what you want, but Chloƫ Sevigny definitely showed dedication to the role for her performance in Vincent Gallo's film The Brown Bunny. The movie received a huge amount of media attention upon its release, but to this day, most people still don't know what the plot is actually about so let me enlighten you. The Brown Bunny follows motorcycle racer Bud Clay on a cross-country drive, haunted by the memory of his former lover. That in itself doesn't sound too provocative, but the final scene between Gallo and Sevigny steps things up a notch with an extremely graphic and unsimulated act of fellatio. One would assume that drama school didn't encourage Sevigny to dedicate herself that completely to a role, but in the world of creative arts, anything is possible. The Brown Bunny never received a wide release so Sevigny's performance has not been seen by the general masses, but ironically, the film would have been seen by even less people if her infamous sex scene had not been included. This is a rare case of a role being mostly ignored, but not through choice, as I'm sure many would have flocked to the mainstream cinemas just to catch a glimpse of Sevigny in action.
