The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo certainly had its fifteen minutes of fame back in 2011 when it was adapted into a feature length production. Releasing during a time in which movie adaptations of modern young adult-oriented novels seemed to be the prominent trend, Dragon Tattoo never really rose to meet the success of many of its competitors.

Lawrence was at one time considered for the lead role in the film, though she was eventually rejected in favor of a less famous actress. Few remember Dragon Tattoo's film adaptation these days, and a memorable performance from J-Law could easily have turned the script into something much more memorable.

Lawrence’s presence in the film would doubtlessly have doubled the project’s box office revenue, as well. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t meant to be, as she was vying for the role against a number of other Hollywood A-liters. Despite her status as a proven dramatist, the film's casting directors evidently didn't believe Lawrence to be the right fit for the role.

In the end, J-Law, Natalie Portman, and even Scarlett Johansson were all shown the door, and the role of Lisbeth Salander, the film’s lead, went to the comparatively unknown Rooney Mara.
