7 Major Roles Jennifer Lawrence Wanted (But Didn't Get)

3. Gossip Girl (2008 - 2012)

Gossip Girl was a teen drama series which ran for six seasons from 2008 to 2012. It focused on a group of high school students, though the crux of the show was centered around a mysterious apparent ex-student who couldn't seem to abandon her interest in clandestine drama.

Though popularly considered to have dropped off in quality as things progressed, Gossip Girl was nominated for and won a good number of awards, and is generally well-regarded in the annals of television history.

That said, the production could have been famous for an entirely different reason, as the role of Serena Van Der Woodsen nearly served as Jennifer Lawrence’s big break. Lawrence has proven that she is adept at handling dramatic screenplay elements, and she would have been a great gossip-starter.

Instead, the show helped to launch the career of actress Blake Lively, though Lively would never be propelled to the same heights as the actress to whom she was originally preferred. Since the production of Gossip Girl ran tandem to the making of the Hunger Games movies, Lawrence may have had to forgo the role that eventually would become her most iconic.
