7 MCU Characters Who Were Recast For Sequels
2. Hulk
Original: Lou Ferrigno
The Replacement: Mark Ruffalo
As is fairly fitting for a character split in two, Bruce Banner and the Hulk have BOTH been replaced in the MCU since their first appearances in The Incredible Hulk.
While Ed Norton was recognisable as Bruce Banner before he was replaced, the man behind the Hulk - or at least behind his voice - didn't get to be seen on screen. But he would be recognisable to any real Hulk fan, because that voice was originally provided by Lou Ferrigno, who played the Hulk on the 1970s TV show so memorably.
He actually survived in the MCU longer than Norton, voicing Hulk uncredited (including that "puny God" line) in The Avengers and Age Of Ultron. But when it came to Thor: Ragnarok, he too was replaced by Mark Ruffalo.
