7 Most Disappointing MCU Movies (So Far)

7. Thor: The Dark World

The first Thor wasn't a great film by any means, but Kenneth Branagh did a solid job exploiting the campy Shakespearean tenor of the material, while leaving plenty of room for a sequel to build on its foundation.

But from its laughably generic sub-title onward, Thor: The Dark World is the closest thing the MCU has to a bad movie. It is soulless, dull blockbuster mediocrity.

From forgettable antagonist Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) - the MCU's worst, by the way - to the needlessly continued romance between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane Foster (a comatose Natalie Portman), the drab visuals, TV-like cinematography and cringe-worthy comedic subplots, the MCU has never felt this listless and unnecessary.

Sure, Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) Machiavellian scheming still raises a smirk and the Captain America (Chris Evans) cameo is hilarious, but if you're ever starting an MCU rewatch, it's the most skippable movie of the lot.

Thankfully Thor: Ragnarok finally gave the Asgardian the solo outing he deserved from the beginning, only further underlining how utterly unremarkable The Dark World truly is.
