7 Most Disappointing MCU Movies (So Far)
6. The Incredible Hulk
It did The Incredible Hulk no favours at all that it released barely a month after the MCU's very first outing, the effortlessly superior Iron Man.
And though it's a good deal more coherent and pacier than Ang Lee's divisive 2003 Hulk, it still fails to fully capitalise on one of the most distinct Avengers.
Despite mercifully glossing over Bruce Banner's (Edward Norton) origin story and benefiting from Norton's intense central performance, the script is a jumbled, awkward mish-mash of tones and ideas that don't really resolve into a particularly compelling whole.
Liv Tyler's charmless performance kills the romance dead and Abomination (Tim Roth) is a generic villain, ensuring the film never really aspires to be much more than a watchable summer entertainment.
Considering the enormous potential of a Hulk solo movie, it's a shame that the film's $263.4 million box office - the MCU's lowest to date and probably ever - made the prospect of any future Hulk movies extremely slim.
