7 Most Disappointing MCU Movies (So Far)

5. Ant-Man & The Wasp

Ant-Man and the Wasp really felt like it would be a solid step up in quality from its middling predecessor - and more on that film later - but ultimately it turned out a totally workmanlike, also-ran sequel that merely cleansed the palette after Avengers: Infinity War.

Introducing the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) should've majorly changed the game and given the MCU another marquee female superhero, yet as a coming-out party for the character, it was a pretty mild affair.

Sure, the action sings and there are some hilarious one-liners, but the narrative is ultra-low effort, the villains stink and it wastes a number of terrific actors, namely Michelle Pfeiffer, Walton Goggins and Laurence Fishburne.

It's not a bad sequel, but only about as good as the first, which is to say middle-of-the-road. Given the unique abilities of Ant-Man and his new cohort, this follow-up was oddly lacking in imagination and ingenuity, not to mention flatly shot.
