7 Most Exciting New Additions To Captain America: Civil War
3. Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman)
As the MCU gets bigger, the studio are taking more risks and introducing some lesser-known characters, and one of the most notable examples is Black Panther. He'll have his own film in 2018 (recently moved from the summer to February to accommodate the Ant-Man sequel), and should feature quite heavily in the end of Phase 3 and beyond, but we'll be meeting him for the first time in Civil War. Also known as T'Challa, he becomes the King of Wakanda in the comics (which, as seen in Age of Ultron, is where vibranium comes from), and it's likely the country will figure heavily into his story, although he may not be its ruler just yet. He was shown to be on Tony Stark's team in the artwork that was released for Civil War, however Kevin Feige has said previously that Black Panther would be more of a neutral figure in the film, while other rumours suggest he'll be on the hunt for a character after a murder in Wakanda. Whatever his role, Marvel clearly have high hopes for the character, and so should we. Chadwick Boseman is the man tasked with playing him, having won critical acclaim for his performance as James Brown in the biopic Get On Up. He's obviously a big talent, and this may just be a piece of spot-on casting from Marvel.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
