7 Most Exciting New Additions To Thor: Ragnarok
3. Tessa Thompson - Valkyrie
Natalie Portman may be among the most talented actresses to step into the MCU, but sadly that never really translated across to her actual role in it. Jane Foster mostly existed as Thor's love interest, and the chemistry between Portman and Hemsworth never quite hit it off like it should've, with the actress seeming increasingly tired of the role.
With Portman now done with Marvel, a replacement for the main female heroic part in the film has been found in the form of Creed's Tessa Thompson. Thompson's star is definitely on the rise, and it seems a very astute casting decision by Marvel here.
Valkyrie, also known by her real name Brunnhilde, is a powerful Asgardian warrior chosen by Odin to lead the Valkyrior, a group of female warriors charged with delivering the souls of slain soldiers to Valhalla. With Hela likely causing havoc in the lands of the dead, Valkyrie should have an important part to play, and she's also set to be a love interest for Thor as well. Thompson should be more than up to the task of making her a well-rounded and interesting character (so long as the script is too), and deliver a performance that can truly put to bed any ridiculous controversy or outrage over her casting as a traditionally white, blonde character.
