7 Most Idiotic Things Fanboys Want From Upcoming Movies
5. To Link The Movie To The X-Men Universe - Deadpool
This has always seemed like a strange request on behalf of the X-Men/Deadpool fanboys, because these two universes don't seem like they belong together at all. Despite frequent confirmations from the writers and the studio regarding the supposed interconnected nature of the X-Men universe and the upcoming Deadpool movie, has anyone actually stopped to think about how dumb an idea this actually is? Not to mention that it doesn't really make any sense - not for the X-Men canon, or the Deadpool one. Deadpool is a meta-inclined superhero, after all; he constantly breaks the fourth wall and comments on the nature of the story as he goes. He's self-aware, and - most of the time - actually acknowledges he's a comic book character. If said character is then factored into the already established X-Men cinematic universe - a universe that has over a decade of non-meta continuity - what does that mean for all of the movies in the X-Men canon? It's one thing to bring a new character into the fray at such a late stage and declaring them part of the same universe; it's another thing to do so with a character whose universe is fundamentally different on every level. Fanboys, you don't want this: it's totally idiotic.
