7 Most Idiotic Things Fanboys Want From Upcoming Movies
3. A Joker Who Evokes Heath Ledger's Version Of The Character - Suicide Squad
We get it, everyone: Heath Ledger's Joker was sensational. Not only was the A Knight's Tale actor's performance totally unexpected, given his previous works, but it was inarguably the best - and most memorable - part of Christopher Nolan's Batman sequel. In the wake of The Dark Knight's release, then, fanboys have hailed Ledger's Joker as the greatest thing to have come along since sliced bread. This attitude resulted in something akin to a backlash regarding the casting of Jared Leto in the role of The Clown Prince for the upcoming film that is Suicide Squad - a sort of "Dirty Dozen with supervillains." At first, the hordes of fanboys seemed to be happy with the casting choice (Leto is weird and has won an Oscar, which makes him a "perfect" candidate), but then - upon seeing Leto in costume with tattoos plastered all over his body in a promotional shot - they turned against him. Why? Well, because he's not Heath Ledger's Joker, that's why. There's a strange disconnection amongst fans, then, that has them clawing for a Joker that reminds them of Ledger and shocks them in all the same ways, and yet - somehow - is completely the opposite of that character, too. They don't want anyone to just outright copy what Ledger did, because that would be blasphemy. Stray too far from his depiction, though, and you're trampling all over his legacy. The outcome they want is impossible.
