7 Movies That May Just Have Predicted The Future of Humanity

6. Minority Report

Minority ReportWhat It Is: A science fiction, thriller, mystery, and suspense film about a future where all crimes are predicted ahead of time. But then the main character John Anderton, a policeman, learns that he is about to commit a premeditated murder, and so goes on the run to prevent himself from being arrested by his own partner. In the scene pictured above, he's receiving an operation by an underground doctor to remove his eyeballs and have them replaced with someone else's, because there are optical scanners everywhere which could easily alert the police to his presence. But despite the police's ability to track suspects with these optical scanners, what are they used for? Ads. In this future world Minority Report predicted for us, this massively sophisticated and useful technology is used to throw personalized advertising at us. Walk into a store you've shopped at before, a display pops up letting you know what new items are in stock, based on what you bought last time. It sends this information everywhere, so when you drive down the road the billboards change for you too. How It May Have Predicted the Future: Personalized ads, a crazy idea when this movie was released, is now pretty common. Do any search online and the browser will send ads to you based on what you've searched for previously. It wouldn't really be too much of a stretch to implement optical scanners with this existing technique.
