7 Pixar Movies Better Than Toy Story 4

3. Monsters, Inc

Pixar continued its skill of making inhuman subjects distinctly human, this time making us care for monsters despite their need for our screams. And much like Pixar has done for toys, bugs and even feelings, the monsters are written and crafted with such nuance and depth that the fact that you’re watching computer generated imagery never crosses your mind.

These monsters are real. Their emotions are real, and despite us humans being the victims of the scaremongering, we as an audience are firmly rooting for the beasts.

Monsters Inc also contains some of Pixar’s most memorable characters such as Sully, Mike, Roz, Randall and the adorably cute Boo, in a subversive and inventive premise that elevates the film above the rather generic toys rescuing toys narrative that we get presented with again in Toy Story 4.

Though Toy Story 4 does subvert expectations to a degree, again mainly through the unique Forky and his strange, hilarious journey, the film mostly follows a similar template to the previous three films. You cant help but feel slightly underwhelmed as a result, something you never feel with Monsters, Inc. Not until they went to University in the prequel anyway.
