7 Plots And Plot Devices That The DCU Needs To Avoid

5. Don€™t Introduce Darkseid

Seriously DC and Warner, whatever you do, do not introduce Darkseid, you€™ll jut be asking for trouble. Darkseid is probably the biggest, most powerful threat that any hero in the DC universe will ever have to face, and so would seem to be an excellent shout as the DCU propels itself into two Justice League films. The problem is that he€™s the unhinged dictator, or mad tyrant if you will, of a distant planet amongst the stars. A being possessed of blueish-purple skin and a soul full of pure hatred who commands unwavering loyalty from all he encounters on pain of death. A man who will stop at nothing short of total control of the universe and will use the most powerful weapons in the galaxy to realise that ambition. If any of that sounds at all familiar, it€™s because I could just as easily be describing Thanos, the big bad of the MCU who has appeared in both Avengers films and Guardians of the Galaxy so far. DC needs to make sure Darkseid is kept as far away as possible from its universe for now just so it doesn€™t look to be aping Marvel. It€™ll be galling for DC, as Darkseid beat Thanos to publication by three years, but in terms of the screen DC would be best off accept that it missed the boat on this one. Marvel got there first with its Mad Titan, and DC would do well to refocus its efforts and find a big enough threat to hang the cinematic universe on elsewhere. Lex Luther is probably the safest bet at this stage.
