7 Plots And Plot Devices That The DCU Needs To Avoid

3. No Clones, Please

It shouldn€™t have to be said that clones are a bad idea as far as block buster films go, but unfortunately DC seems to be rather fond of them. Hopefully the decision makers will have seen Star Wars episode II and see that it€™s a dead end. There are two clones in particular that DC needs to avoid and the first is Bizzaro. There have been many versions of Bizarro, a flawed copy of Superman, throughout the years. Often shown as a childlike, mirror image of the man of steel, Bizarro crops up to generally fight Superman from time to time. Although many versions of Bizarro have existed down the years the most famous was created by Lex Luthor, which is where the worry sets in. It€™s already been revealed that BvS€™s Lex has General Zod€™s body and is conducting experiments on it, could he be trying to clone Kryptionian DNA? It€™s not a great idea for a threat to Superman at this stage, as we€™ve already seen him face off against his own people and the effect would be much the same but with less personality involved. Besides, Bizarro was even cut from Superman IV, which proves it simply wouldn€™t work in cinemas. The second clone that needs to be avoided is a clone of Batman. Batman€™s death was a big deal a few years ago that was conveniently explained away with a clone body and a displaced consciousness. It was a disappointing cop out to say the least and the films need to be thematically stronger than that.
