7 Reasons Marvel's Movies And TV Shows Will NEVER Connect More
4. Marvel Studios And Marvel Television Have Different Bosses
A year ago, every department head at Marvel Entertainment rolled up to CEO Ike Perlmutter. Last summer, Marvel Studios was moved so that studio president Kevin Feige would report directly to The Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. In effect, this put a degree of separation between Marvel Studios and the rest of Marvel Entertainment, including Marvel Television.
This alone does not prevent the connections between the movies and television series from being any stronger. It just doesn't help. Even though they're all still part of Disney, different people are serving different bosses within different departments that ultimately have different needs and priorities. That makes it harder for everyone to be on the exact same page.
Logistically, Marvel Television is becoming more like Marvel Comics, operating on the opposite coast from Marvel Studios. The movies are based out of Los Angeles and while there are Marvel Television employees working there, most series are based in New York now that Netflix shows greatly outnumber the projects on ABC.
Technology obviously makes communication on opposite coasts easy enough, but there are fewer casual interactions from which crossover ideas could be generated.
