7 Reasons Suicide Squad Has The Edge On Batman V Superman

2. Everyone's An Anti-Hero!

If the 21st century has taught us anything, it's that audiences love an anti-hero. Like, seriously. And here comes a motion picture made up of a whole group of "reformed" villains working to try and reduce their prison sentences - albeit against their will. Batman V Superman's edge stems from the fact that it features a premise that pits these iconic heroes against one another, but we all know that - ultimately - these are good guys. And we also know that by the end of the film, Batman and Superman will be best friends, working together as members of the Justice League (the subtitle is "Dawn Of Justice," after all). If they're temporarily swayed towards darkness, it's only going to last a short time. Which is another way of saying that Dawn Of Justice's titular heroes aren't anti-heroes (even if Batman goes rogue for a bit). Suicide Squad, on the other hand, contains an endless gallery of them, all with their own strengths, weaknesses, fears and desires. Somebody treading the line between good and evil is almost always more interesting than watching a character who simply exists as either one or the other; there's drama and conflict in a human being who straddles that divide. It was, then, a smart move on Warner Bros. part to render a movie built entirely out of anti-heroes, because that's what the people want. By comparison, the more "predictable" heroes of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice aren't quite as interesting.
