7 Reasons The MCU Is Better Off Without Joss Whedon
3. The Russos Have Proven Themselves
Credit where credit is due, Whedon directed one of the best
Marvel movies to date. The Avengers will go down as a near-perfect superhero
film and the massive success of the film rightly made him Marvel’s golden boy.
But since his departure, Marvel has found a new golden boy- well, boys
actually.
Many people scratched their heads when Marvel handed over the Captain America franchise to Anthony and Joe Russo, brothers known for their small screen work on Community and Arrested Development. But skeptics were quickly made true believers as Captain America: The Winter Solider proved to be a stellar action film, engrossing thriller and the film that made Captain America cool.
Proving that the first time wasn’t a fluke, the brothers followed up with Captain America: Civil War, one of this year’s biggest hits. The sequel did an amazing job of juggling the biggest cast of the MCU so far, servicing all our favorite characters and even introducing some new key players. No wonder Marvel named them as the ones to helm the epic two-part Avengers: Infinity War.
This will be the first Avengers film without Whedon as director and yet there has been little concern over his absence. That’s a true testament to what the Russos have shown us so far. They are surprisingly skilled action directors, they understand this world and how to build upon it, and they evidently have a great love of these characters.
It’s safe to say the Avengers are in good hands.
