7 Reasons Why Iron Man 3 Is An Awful Film

1. Wait, He's Not Iron Man Anymore?

1063747-1261078579132_super Who could have possibly thought having Tony Stark getting his shrapnel removed was a good Idea? Probably the guy who thought it would be cool if Batman fought without a cape or that Superman should fight crime in a suit and tie.I'm all for directors breaking the script and trying new, dynamic, and artistic things with superhero properties, but this decision is so far out of left field that it doesn't make any sense whatsoever Didn't the chest piece, powered by the new element he discovered in Iron Man 2, also help power his suit? I'm sure he could find another way to power the suit instead of using his chest as a plug but why bother? What I mean is, why bother now? If he could have had the Shrapnel removed why didn't he just do that in the first movie when he got back from Iraq? Is the movie trying to say that he was using his life threatening disability as a crutch so he could find a reason to continue being Iron Man. That would mean he wanted the Shrapnel in his body just so he could have a reason to continue wearing the suit. But if the Iron Man suit can be powered by an outside power source (like the War Machine suit) then why would he feel the need to have the chest piece inside him in the first place. Unless the film is saying he was holding on to the chest piece as a coping device which is an explanation I could buy but I still would say shrapnel to the chest is a pretty dangerous coping device to rely on regardless of how messed up you are. The decision to have the shrapnel removed doesn't make any sense for the narrative, not to mention it completely betrays the comic book roots of the character. It's a foul up perhaps greater than the butlers confession in Spider-Man 3. At least in that case the butler could argue that he was senile. What was Tony's excuse for putting off an operation that could have saved his life in Iron Man 1, kept him from almost being poisoned in Iron Man 2, and saved him from having a nervous breakdown in Iron Man 3. There is none. Epic Fail. Time for Shawarma. Agree or disagree? Let us know in the comments section below.

Raymond Woods is too busy watching movies to give you a decent bio. If he wasn't too busy watching movies and reading books about movies and listening to podcasts about movies, this is what he'd tell you. "I know more about film than you. Accept this as a fact and we might be able to talk."
