5. The Timing of the Musical Score
There is no denying the music in Prometheus is stunning. But did it really need to be in almost every single scene? There were often cases of tension being completely sucked out of a scene simply because of the music in the background just didnt need to be there. One of the elements that made Alien so scary is the silence and lack of music in several key scenes. You could almost wonder if Ridley had directed Alien now, would the chestbursting scene have had music running through it? If so, it wouldnt be half as scary and probably not as iconic as it is still regarded as today. The music in Spider-Man, however, is heard at key points, and doesnt tend to swallow the scene the way the music does in Prometheus.
