7 Scenes Introducing A Superhero That Completely Nailed It

1. Magneto In X-Men: First Class

Magneto had already been portrayed rather splendidly by Ian McKellen in three X-Men movies, but Michael Fassbender's take on a younger Erik Lensherr was just as magnetic a performance. In First Class, we see how Magneto became the man that he is as portrayed by McKellen - forced to use his powers by Nazis under inhumane pressure, it's no wonder Magneto turns out to be something of a bad lad. However, seeing this part of Magneto's backstory makes it difficult not to sympathize with the Master of Magnetism. Magneto's visit to a small pub in Argentina is one of the highlights of the whole film, dripping with tension throughout. When Magneto does, rather effortlessly, enact his quite violent revenge on the Nazis he's been tracking down you'd be hard pushed to find anyone that wouldn't be cheering him on. The trademark cool of Fassbender as he sweeps his hair back and takes a long swig of his German beer offers something not touched upon in McKellen's performance as Magneto - it'll be interesting to see how the two compare when they both portray the mutant in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
