7 Things New To Netflix This Week (Mar 28)

3. Chuck Norris v Communism

From the producers of Searching for Sugarman comes Chuck Norris v Communism, a film set behind the Iron Curtain in communist Romania.

Western films and TV shows were banned in the 80s, and were smuggled into the country on VHS by entrepreneurs and fans of Knight Rider to be sold for extortionate prices.

The movie follows the story of a female translator, whose job it was to recreate famous lines from the likes of Chuck Norris, David Hasselhoff, Bruce Lee, Steven Seagal, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino for her fellow countrymen and women, empowering them at a time when they were at their most helpless.

For that true communist experience, try watching it on a 15-inch telly in the dark with a dozen neighbours, while wearing a tracksuit in a room filled with cigarette smoke and home-made alcohol.

One reviewer called it "A love letter to the movies" - track down Chuck Norris v Communism from April 1st.
